[He's quiet a moment]

You'd be far from worthless, Kyna.

[A beat]

I'm sorry, however. That can't be easy on you.

Well...actually you might be among the most helpful.

But given the circumstances I wouldn't want to push.

Let me start by saying that things like magic don't exist in my world. Also no superman, no spiderman... But over the past decade or so we've begun to see the rise of something called the 'Alpha' phenomenon. Certain individuals have begun showing symptoms of hyper-developed physiological skills. Things that could easily be mistaken for magic or miracles but its entirely based in human genetics.

Anyway. I'll probably bore you if I go much further on that, but my job was trying to help these individuals understand their abilities, learn how to use them or to cope with them depending on how severely these abilities effected their ability to have a normal day to day life.

But there is another side of that coin that I have no information about. What happens to that individual if their ability is removed or lost somehow? I would be most effective in my ability to help if I could also help a patient who experienced a loss of their ability, not just how to utilize it while its there.

Does that make any sort of sense at all?

Well for starters, would you be willing to talk to me about what you've experienced in losing your ability? Again, I understand if you'd rather not. But I'd be very grateful.

Feelings, physical changes...anything.

You don't have to. Really I just need observations. Anything you're willing to tell me.

I am not here to try and analyze the state of your mental health unless you'd like me too.

So I should take it as a 'no' then?

[He chuckles softly]

Are you sure? I wouldn't want you to do anything you weren't comfortable with. Maybe...maybe you'd let me ask some questions and you can choose whether you'd want to answer or not? Full veto power on your part.

Alright.

So.. my first question would have to be were you born with your ability?
