He gave me a key so I could use it, so I can't imagine he'd care if I was using it in order to teach you instead of just playing it myself.

how do you start?

Learning by doing is the easiest way, at least for me, so we'll probably start by working on learning something simple. A lot of playing piano is getting used to where the keys are and hitting them with the right timing, so playing easy songs works really well in that.
