[It takes Kyna longer than she would have liked to learn plane shift, and longer still to master it to the point that no one (read: her brother) thinks she'll accident shift to some terrible hell dimension.

And she manages it, pretty perfectly, actually, although an exhausted girl with pointed ears just appearing in a military base with no warning doesn't get her the warmest welcome.]

Hey, chill, I'm just looking for Wash.

[God, all of them are in armor. It's kind of nuts.]

Yeah, I know. It's just...

[ He doesn't know if he could explain it, but the problem's not his friends, it's him. He's the broken one, he doesn't want to hurt or frighten or be a burden on them. Wash shrugs awkwardly, admitting something else. ]

Honestly, I'm not happy about you seeing me like this either.

No.

[ Wash's response is almost instant, and very sure sounding. He squeezes Kyna's hand tight, his other hand coming up to turn her face towards him by her chin and stroking his thumb over that frown. Stop that. ]

I know you wouldn't. But it's got to be... difficult. I don't want you hurting, that's all.

[ Warmth spreads through Wash's chest -- of course Kyna wasn't going to bail, it's not her, but part of him still fears it. Being too much work, too difficult to handle. It'd be on him if that's how things went, but the larger part of him is certain Kyna will stick it out and find a way to help him. He leans in and kisses her forehead, breathes in the scent of her hair. ]

I love you more than anything, you know that, right? I don't think I've forgotten anything from before, but I'll never forget that.
