[It's honestly impressive at this point. He's not sure he really has much choice left but to accept defeat.]
I guess I will have to keep dreaming. Tragic.

[Hard same, Kyna. Hard same.]
They almost make this whole ordeal worth it.

[He will neither confirm nor deny.
He glances down at his hand in hers, flexing his fingers instinctively. Somehow wearing gloves feels stranger, but he lived in his armor for so long, so it's not surprising he feels that way.]
They took my armor...it felt natural to keep my hands covered. The empathy bond is most certainly extra motivation.

[Fenris seems amused by the question, quirking a brow.]
Does the idea of armor fascinate you so?
[Is that not normal where you're from.]

Ah.
[He never really had to explain his armor to anyone before. They just saw it, made a smart remark, and that was the end of it.]
It was specifically tailored for me. [Which, in hindsight, is probably good that he doesn't have it anymore? Even if it feels strange to be without.]
Made to show off my marks, naturally. It was thin enough that when my markings glowed they would be visible, covered or not. But it was also supposed to be intimidating. I suppose that's why it's so dark and...spiky, as some have said. And of course, there had to be feathers. The Magisters love their feathers. [If an eyeroll could be expressed through tone alone this would be it.] That is not to say it wasn't practical. I could move freely and quickly with such thin material, and since most attacks came from the front I had a chest-plate to protect me.
[He flexes his fingers again.]
The gauntlets gave me the most use, however. Should I drop my sword or be unable to draw it in time, the claws made an excellent weapon.

Not himself, no. He had a very specific tailor in mind to make it. I believe it took months before it was done to his liking. It wasn't the practicality he was trying to master, but the intimidation.
[While there's definitely a distinctive distaste to his words, he doesn't seem to have much trouble talking about it. This sort of thing was just day to day life for him.]
Most humans are already strange around elves. But elves in black armor with metal claws and a great sword...[he trails off, because that goes without saying.] Danarius took a great bit of enjoyment in the fear I brought to his guests. Even his closest allies.

[Well, it makes Fenris huff a short laugh, so it's safe to say it doesn't bother him any.]
Prejudice, mostly. Perhaps some feel guilty about the unpleasant history between their kind and elves. You would have to ask them that.
[To be frank, he doesn't like most humans. But saying that right now would be pretty stupid.]

[This seems to surprise him.]
Just humans?
[That sounds awful, he thinks, with a human in his lap.]
Is there no other race?

I see...
[He understands insofar as he gets what she's saying, at least, if the nod of his head is any indication. Still, how odd.]
"Super gorgeous".
[He would point out the fact that what she said isn't too far off from what is said to be the elves from ages ago, but. Really.]

[THROAT CLEARING.]
I suppose that's not unlike what is believed to be the elves from ages ago.
[He honestly should have seen that coming.]

[He'll get her back for that one.
Dryly:]
I am far better looking, obviously.

[Oh she still wants a real answer.]
It is said the elves from that long ago all wielded powerful magic as naturally as they drew breath. That, and they were immortal. But I am far from a good representation of elves today, much less so long ago. You would be better off asking a Dalish elf.
Not that you should, even if you could. It is hardly worth putting up with the smug sense of superiority.

They live nomadic lives away from the rest of society, especially humans — having refused to live in elven alienages in their cities, and even stay away from other Dalish clans. They spend their days living on the borders of human lands trying to reclaim lost elven history, waiting for the time to come when they can become what they once were. Or so they believe.
They seem to have little in common with most elves.
