He's been out wandering around in the city, taking in how desolate and quiet it is in terms of human activity, but how full of life it is when it comes to plants and animals. They're everywhere, and in many ways it's like he's returned to a different world than he left.
And it is, of course, also a different world than he'd last been in.
It's all so confusing and he can't begin to sort it out, partially because it's just so much and partially because he can't let himself get lost in it right now. He has to stay focused on what's going on, on the few people that do seem to find themselves in the city again, and hopefully--or not hopefully?--other Displaced who might find themselves in New Amsterdam once again.
It isn't that he's never expecting a response from Kyna, exactly, just that he's not expecting her to be the first to reply out of the various messages he'd sent. He doesn't know, for sure, why it is that she's back, but between his own experience and what he'd heard happened in Zerzura, it's an easy guess.
But that only makes him even more unsure of how to navigate the conversation. Just like with her, the conflict they had before seems so pointlessly and so far removed from anything now, like it had happened in another life; hadn't it, in a way? It's not that the issues that led to it were resolved, but right now they just seem unimportant compared to everything else.
But he doesn't know what to do, or how she feels about it, or how to even start handling a situation like this. So he goes on intuition for now, hoping it'll guide him correctly.]

Hey, Kyna.
Are you at the apartment?
