Fine. I'm taking over your spare bedroom, then.

[He finally convinces himself to start on his sandwich, though he does toss a small bite to Sandy. She's not spoiled at all, nope.]

Are you feeling okay, yourself?

[He's kind of been forgetting about the effects of the illness himself, because they're blending into the effects of blood loss, but he realizes with some guilt that she might be feeling sick too.]

[Kyna shrugs, then nods.]

Mostly. I mean, better than a lot of people, I think.

[She's just been generally feverish and feeling gross.]

Don't start worrying about me, though.

[Okay, well, that's good; at least it's not worse. However--]

Too late; I'm already worrying.

[But he's half-teasing as he says it, willing to take her word for it at the moment that she isn't horribly sick at least.]

There's some tea um... Somewhere, if you want it.

[She reaches out to scratch Sandy behind her ears.]

You seriously don't want me to talk to Michael?

[Sandy makes a delighted and very cute noise, leaning into the ear-scratching with one eye closed, although the other is still watching Lance in hopes of getting more sandwich.]

I can't tell you what to do, but just... Don't get into a fight with that thing, at least.

[He doesn't want her getting hurt because of him; he's not going to tell her she can't talk to Michael, just hopefully not in person. The Visitor is horrifying and ridiculously dangerous and no matter how capable Kyna is, Lance doesn't want her taking that kind of risk just because she's upset about what happened to him.]

[Ugh, Sandy is so cute. Kyna still takes a second to wrinkle her nose at Lance, though.]

Maybe that thing needs an ass kicking.

[Lance gives a small sigh, gaze shifting back to his sandwich.]

I'm not sure anything really hurts it. Losing part of its leg just seemed to inconvenience it and nothing more.

What do you mean? What were you hitting it with?

[He's quiet again for a few seconds, responding a little more tonelessly.]

I shot it, several times. I also tried using magic, but it only seemed kind of curious about the fire; the shield worked, though.

[And it worked at exactly the right time that he'd needed it to.]

I didn't want to get close enough to touch it, so I didn't try electricity.

It might be... You know. It's magic, right? Sometimes things like that are resistant to a lot of shit.

Yeah. The bullets were a lot more effective than any of the magic I tried, but I think I botched burning hands anyway.

[So who knows if it might've been more useful if he hadn't, but he did.]

I only had four bullets left, though, so not a lot of options.

[Kyna hums quietly, considering that.]

We can speed up your lessons, if you want.

[He glances over at her again, finally.]

If it's okay with you, I'd like that, after you're feeling better.

[He hesitates another moment, before deciding to ask--]

Actually, um, I was wondering if you or Harlan knew any magic that heals, aside from your necklace.

[Because he was already interested in learning that before, but now even more so.]

I suck at healing spells, but Harlan knows one.

[She nudges him gently, shooting him a smile.]

What, are you gonna ditch me?

[He's quietly relieved she doesn't seem bothered, even though logically he'd known she probably wouldn't be.]

It'd be less 'ditching' and more 'taking a brief detour', and that's only if he'd agree to teach me anyway. You're still the best magic teacher around, as far as I'm concerned.

[Kyna grins.]

You're such a suck up.

[But it's clear she's quietly pleased, anyway.]

[He smiles a little in response, even managing a bit of a shrug.]

You kind of just saved my life, so I think some flattery is the least I owe you.

Pfft. Whatever.

[Is she flustered? Maybe just a tiny bit. It feels weird to have it laid out so starkly like that.]

You would have done the same thing for me.

[Finally; this is payback for flustering him all the time so rudely!!!]

Well, yeah. But it would've been a lot less badass and without any teleporting.

It totally would have been badass. FBI agents have to be badass. It's like, a law.

We're only required to be badass like, two hours out of the day.

[He offers her another small smile and then moves to start getting up for the table, being very careful not to make himself any dizzier than necessary.]

I'm um, gonna go get some rest.

[Kyna reaches out to give his hand a brief squeeze.]

You can totally wake me up if you need anything, okay?

[He returns the gesture, smiling a bit more despite his exhaustion.]

I will.

[He doesn't plan to need anything, but if he does, he really will ask. It's on one condition, though--]
