[ Elden had stayed out of the arguing for that post. As things progressed he felt a little less like it was his fault that the whole conversation had started about the "no kids" thing. He also took the time to read things over and well, he might not totally like it but he can understand their own reasons a bit better now. Still, Kyna, the woman who had brought it up had gone silent.
So, Elden decides to call a bit later; ]
Hey, look, I just want to be clear I'm not here to start an argument. I'm just wanting to check in and ask if you're all right.
[ There's a small pause on his end. What's he to say really to that? It seemed pretty straight forward. ]
I get why you don't want someone my age around. After seeing what you said and I'm not going to force my company on you. Especially, if it's going to get in the way of you or your group being able to focus.
[ Should he go on?He sighs quietly for a moment before saying; ]
For all this talk about trying to work together...we're all having a hard time communicating, huh?
[ At the point at which Wash had decided to take a break from stalking Kyna's post and grab them all some dinner from downstairs, things were pretty quiet. They'd already fielded the issue of Rafe and Nate's history and made that call, and Wash (foolishly, definitely foolishly) figured that was going to be the biggest problem they'd come across in sifting through volunteers.
He's not even gone half an hour but got caught up in conversation in the tavern, so by the time he gets back upstairs with his hands full he's missed quite a bit. Nate and Kyna are both bent over their tablets with unhappy expressions and a singular focus. They don't even glance up as the door swings closed behind him, and Wash frowns worriedly and steps in to set the plates down on their desk. ]
[ The no kids thing set them off, huh? Wash makes a face, setting down the plates and then his lantern before crossing over to where Kyna's sitting on the bed. ]
Do you think I should try to jump in, or would that just make it worse?
[ He sits down next to her, reaching for the tablet to see what's been going on.... he scrolls through a few screens worth of bickering and then tosses it aside again and reaches for her instead. ]
There's no getting through to that, they came in looking for a fight.
um i guess it depends on who it was if it was someone i cared about idk there are a couple of people here that i already knew and this is going to sound fucked up but it was like this mix of grief and happiness and guilt seeing them does that make sense? why? who's here?
I don't know that I'm happy about how they got here.
[ he gets why she's happy. having someone to lean on. he feels relief talking to jason. knowing he doesn't have to explain much. not about bruce. or robin. jason knows.

[She lets out a weak, frustrated noise.]
This is why I don't play leader or spokesperson. I suck at it.
