Lance wishing to posture for holding up all avenues of thought while having a very sturdy argument for why one avenue is particularly problematic will never sit right by me. It means that, to some degree, he's worried about how it might seem if someone follows that path. Surely you'll see how he manipulates others soon enough.

Complicated is a much too simple a word for their situation, with everything that happened in the alternate world on top of everything that happened just before it. She may not want to hear from him, and he isn't sure he wants to get a response, because what would that mean for her in the Aerie?
