I deserve that. Look, I'm here, for what it's worth. And I know it's not worth much right now.
[It doesn't take a psychologist to figure out that Kyna's upset about something, and at first Lance doesn't bring it up since she might want some space; he assumes what happened with the earthquake is catching up to her. But eventually he finds her in the kitchen, and decides to just ask--]

[For all that she's terrible at explaining her feelings (and oh boy, wouldn't the empathy bond be useful there), Kyna is awful at hiding them. She's slamming a cabinet closed as he enters the kitchen, and she makes a face at his question.]

[She almost adds "no offense", and then decides against it. Because she's grumpy.]

[She makes a face at that. He's right, but she hasn't had much luck in that department recently. Kyna reaches for her necklace absently, sliding the pendant back and forth along the chain.]

One of the people I went to Antarctica with. He's been acting... weird. Avoiding me. So I asked if something was wrong and said he could talk to me if he needed to, and he just... shut me down and turned the whole thing on me. Like it was all in my head and I was being ridiculous.

[He waits patiently for her to continue, and when she does he finds her choice of words interesting in several respects. One is the aborted sentence, and another is that this is almost exactly how she described her last attempt at talking to someone to have gone.

If it makes you feel any better, that isn't a reaction people typically have when there's genuinely nothing going on. You were probably right in thinking there was something to be discussed.
