I mentioned this briefly on Rey's first post about this mess, but Ren was a part of a group that was trying to undermine society's ills. I was opposed to him, working with a large number of powerful men to manipulate and trick his group into doing our bidding. We succeeded.
All of this was put into motion by a god named Yaldaboath. The God of Control.
Eventually, Ren and his group defeated this god, but another men stepped into that seat of power and forced his will upon the people of Tokyo. So Ren, once again, needed to free people from their chains.
[Suspiciously only owns up to the part where he's a bad guy, it's fine.]
It's more the breaking point for him. Since we've been here, we've been strung along again and again. First by Cassius, tempting us to act and play heroes. Then by Cassius again. Don't forget the part where Ren died in that other world named Zerzura, all because he was trying to do right by it. And then we were taken to gates against our will, and we're blind to who could do that. And then the simulation. Riverstone was the first major event since we returned, so it's unsurprising that it would be the final straw.
I've been seeing the same bullshit since I got here, Displaced after Displaced. Even with the turnover, it's all the same.
And then one of them claims he wishes to be domesticated while refusing to see the reality of what's happened and getting angry with you for fighting back.
Shouldn't that be more obvious? Or am I simply an immature child who needs you to have words with me?
i'm not calling you a child i'm just talking with you i think you know you're an asshole on posts like that and you're fine with it and i'm really fucking bad at lectures so who cares ian was more upset that i was in danger, if that changes anything i've totally seen him go on rants about how much this world sucks
You can think less of it and still be complicit. If you follow the throughline of his thinking, he would rather be seen as a part of this world than risk losing it. His reason for that is understandable, given the question of aliens, but it says a lot to claim that you wish to be domesticated. Controlled by it all. All it tells me is that he's in denial of how truly fucked up this world is, and how we're powerless every step of the way.
In that, he should respect your autonomy. Being angry at someone for willingly putting themselves into danger is pointless. Especially when he only seems reasonable when it serves him.
wanting to be controlled doesn't fit with anything else i've talked about with him either way, talking to him like that is shitty i don't think we're totally powerless, either or at least we don't have to be, you know?
Sometimes the first step to changing your circumstances is accepting them as they are. I'm not telling everyone to give up. But it would be much better if we recognized the reality of where we stand, rather than have lofty aspirations as if we've already overcome them.

I was opposed to the idea. I didn't only make it known on the trip.
