[Meaning she's at his door, though unfortunately, she's not wearing a trenchcoat. It's just her usual shorts and tank top combo.]

[ Shorts and a tank top are a pretty bold choice, under the circumstances: shiny black straps peek out at her neck and thighs, as promising an invitation as any when his gaze sweeps over her. Still room to be a jerk, though: ]

Damn, I was really pulling for the trenchcoat and stilettos look.

[ Meanwhile, he's got a v-neck and jeans on. Call it saving up his fancy clothes for a surprise--it sounds better than laziness. ]

[The v-neck looks good on him, actually. It's not like Kyna's the type to demand high fashion, anyway. She steps inside, standing up on her tiptoes to steal a kiss.]

You're into stilettos, huh?

[ And Sam bends a little to meet her as the door closes. ]

Be easier to kiss you.

[ He's definitely into stilettos. ]

[Kyna presses her lips against his, brief and chaste, but he gets a rush of playfulness through the bond.]

Ooh, sounds like a bribe.

[ it's enough of a peck to catch that, enough to get across the happy anticipation he feels in turn. ]

Don't think of it as a bribe. More like a...[ and he's gesturing, as he leads her back through the apartment to his bedroom ]...benefit. Everyone wins here.

[ his room's been hastily cleaned up, dirty clothes a single heap in the corner rather than wherever he tossed them when he took them off. besides them, there's a rumpled bed--sheets only, it's hot out--and a bedside table with a water-glass bouquet of flowers from the upstairs garden. and that's about it. what's there to put in a room, place like this? ]

You're good at being convincing.

[She says, teasingly, but when she steps into his bedroom, her eyes widen. It's pretty much the exact opposite of hers, which isn't a bad thing, exactly, but—]

Jeez, Sam, talk about bare.

Course I am. I'm right.

[ The teasing doesn't disappear when she sets foot into his room, but the grin on his face turns into something a little more surprised. He glances back at her, brow wrinkling some. ]

What? You don't like it?

[evocation]

[When she sees the shift in his expression, she loops her arm through his, leaning into him. It's an intentional use of the empathy bond, just to show him she's not judging.]

It's just... you know. Don't you want to make it more... comfy?

[She hesitates, considering.]

I mean, I guess you're used to bouncing around, right?

[So maybe that's why. It's not like he ever had a reason to hold onto things.]

[ Sam leans down enough that he can kiss the top of her head--and also slips her arm. Casually, withdrawing before he can react to her questions, and all she really gets is not-terribly-specific surprise. ]

Hey, I'm only ever in here for two reasons. [ Speaking of which, he unshades the window so the last of the day's sunlight can pour in, along with all the neon coming on for the evening. It might be bare, as rooms go, but now at least it's not the dim place they first stepped into. ] And one of 'em involves being unconscious.

[ The smile he turns on her probably gives away what the other one involves. ]

So I don't got a lot I need in here.

[evocation]

[She scoffs, expression still playful.]

What, you mean I'm not the only pretty girl you bring back here?

[And if that's a little irrational jealousy she feels, she's dutifully ignoring it.]

Am I supposed to believe [ plucking the flower from her hair and examining it like he's never seen it before ] I'm the first guy who's seen the inside of your room?

You don't have to believe it, but you are.

[She's not sure what that says, if it says anything at all. Instead of considering it, she wanders to the flowers on his bedside table, brushing her fingers against one.]

[ Now he's tempted to touch her, just to see if he can feel out how much of a lie that is--c'mon, they aren't exactly blushing virgins here--but she's moved away from him. ]

What was that theory of yours, anyway?

[evocation]

[She's had a lot less sex here, for better or for worse. She tilts her head at his question, smile returning.]

Promise you won't call me crazy?

[withmeinparadise]

Sure.

[evocation]

Well...

[She drags the word out, very dramatically.]

I think you did it.

Me?

[ He snorts, like this is the most ridiculous idea he's ever heard, but only for the joke of it. ]

What gave you that idea?

[Kyna pulls one of the flowers out of the vase, the twin to the one she had in her hair, and holds it up. Proof!]
