[ Even in full armor, Kyna can tell that Wash's tension eases once Lup is gone. He did not like being in her presence, not one bit. ]

[Kyna's starting to get the hang of reading him while he's in the armor, at least a little bit, but those signals are pretty obvious.]

Yeah, well... I guess she's pretty intense.

[She moves closer to Wash, glancing down at his gun and then back up to his visor.]

Hey, lose the helmet for a sec.

And I've got no defense against her.

[ Or offense, for that matter. He's got nothing and that's terrifying.

He hesitates when Kyna tells him to take off his helmet, because he can't think of a reason why... but he does it anyway, lifting both hands to his head and pulling it off smoothly. ]

[evocation]

[Neither does Kyna, really. Lup is a powerful wizard to begin with, and liches are terrifying. But...]

We can practice. I can show you some tips to use against magic or something.

[Later. Right now, Kyna is focused on standing on her tiptoes and reaching up to cup his face with her hands, tugging him down to kiss him. It's just a thank you, and it doesn't mean anything else, like that time he kissed her in the kitchen. No big deal, obviously, right?]

[ In most cases, Wash's strategy would be to dodge and then physically kick the shit out of the magic user, but Lup is incorporeal so he doesn't see what on earth he could do to her. He frowns a little and draws a breath to say that, when Kyna leans in and touches his face.

Okay. He leans down a little and sets an armored hand on the small of her back to steady her, kissing. ]

What was that for..?

[She wasn't expecting the question. Actually, she was kind of hoping she could just kiss him and that would be that, but of course he wants to know. She bites her lip.]

Um... It was a thank you.

[And also, she just wanted to kiss him.]

[ Wash's mouth quirks a bit. ]

All I did was stand there not pissing myself. Very impressive, I know.

[evocation]

[Kyna rolls her eyes, giving him a playful and utterly ineffective little push against his chest plate.]

She scares you and you had my back anyway, and you stuck up for me.

[hardwearing]

...guess I did.

[ It sounds more impressive when she says it. ]

You done packing?

[evocation]

Yep.

[She smiles up at him, head tilting.]

You gonna make me dinner?

[hardwearing]

"Making dinner" is sort of a generous description. We both know I can't cook.

[Kyna laughs, hands still resting on his armor.]

You want me to go beg Lup for food instead?

[hardwearing]

I don't think she's at the point where she's willing to feed me.

[evocation]

Yeah, probably not. Guess that means you get to starve.

[hardwearing]

Come on. [ He reaches for her bag, hefts it to his shoulder. ] We'll make something edible together.

[evocation]

I'll make it, you mean.

[But she doesn't seem too bothered. She links her arm with his, smoothing her fingers over the armor.]

You still look super intimidating in this, you know. I couldn't tell you were pissing yourself at all.

[hardwearing]

Excuse you. I said I was not pissing myself.

Might've if she'd actually turned on me, though. Ignoring me was the best case scenario.

[evocation]

God, sorry.

[She gives his arm a tug, leading him toward the door.]

Piss doesn't work against magic. Sorry.

[hardwearing]

[ Wash goes along, putting his helmet back on for the walk back to his spire. ]

What does, then?

Um... It depends. Most mages are only really powerful if they can sit back and blast you. It's not like we've got crazy sci-fi armor.

[She shrugs a little.]

If you know what someone's using as a focus, you can just grab it and that screws them over pretty hard. Not everyone here needs a focus, though.

[hardwearing]

Getting in close enough to fight is the problem, though. And Lup doesn't even have a body for me to hit.

[ Not that he's planning on attacking her, he's just concerned with defending himself. ]

I don't think she's going to try to hurt you. Seriously.

[hardwearing]

It doesn't seem like she will, but I'd rather be ready. Just in case.

[She guesses it's probably good for him to be able to defend himself against magic in general here, so...]
