[Lup, for everyone's benefit really, ignores Wash for now, focused on pressing a skeletal, ghostly finger into Kyna's chest instead.]

You, sis. You are grounded! Indefinitely! What the fuck did you do to get Ephemera so wound up? Also, broken ribs! How long was that going to be a secret!?

[This is honestly only because Lup loves this girl so much, but damn if she's going to say it like that.]

[Kyna steps back, expression closing off. She's so sick of everyone yelling at her over Ephemera.]

Excuse me for hurting Ephemera's poor fucking feelings. I warned him like four times not to touch me, and he did anyway.

[She may step back, but Lup's floating there in front of her, hands falling to her hips.]

Yeah, and now I'm gonna have to fucking roast his ass for being an even bigger asshole. But for now, lay down the deets, sister. Drake skimmed way too hard over what happened, so gimme. He been like this for awhile? Has he been threatening you?

[ Knowing his gun is useless, Wash holsters it, but he doesn't back away yet. He should probably stay out of this. Stand down and let Kyna handle it.

But she's in this mess because of him. ]

He's a loose cannon. It's not Kyna's fault.

[It's probably not a great choice for Wash to get involved, but she shoots him a grateful look anyway.]

He hasn't been threatening me, he just... Really likes shit talking Wash, and it pisses me off. And then he said he was going to pick me up and throw me in this fucking dumpster, and I told him if he did I'd shocking grasp him in the face, and he did, so...

[So clearly she has done nothing wrong ever in her life!]

[The lich fully ignores Wash, minus flipping him off with a bony finger while her attention remains focused on Kyna.]

Didn't we have this convo already? [And it doesn't mean nearly as much when she can't actually touch the woman, but Lup swoops in to wrap Kyna up in a careful hug, resting her skeletal chin against the top of the half-elf's head.]

Boys are fuckin' idiots. End of story. Don't get mixed up in their dick measuring contests, Kyna. It's not worth it. Ever. Also, I'm pretty sure Wash can take care of himself.

Look, I'm not saying to stay out of fights or whatever, cause the two of us are deffo more than anything any dude here could ever handle, but at least make sure the fight is about you. Not because of some guy. This was pretty stupid, babe.

[Kyna certainly wasn't expecting that, and while it's dismissive of Wash, it's also far more openly caring and sweet than Kyna is used to. This is the sort of thing she hears from Harlan, that in your face concern and bluntness, and just like with Harlan, it throws her off-center for a second. Kyna can't hug Lup back, but she wraps her arms around her anyway. It means something even if she can't feel it, Kyna thinks. She nods a little.]

Sorry. I just... got mad, and he wouldn't back off, and... I don't know.

Yeah, yeah, [And Lup's voice is more casual now, some of the strain gone from her tone. She lifts a hand to run along the younger elf's hair and just gives them this nice moment of closeness. Completely ignoring Wash. Natch.]

I've done stupid too, so it's like, whatevs. [Like Kyna wouldn't believe. Coming back to life over and over again on schedule for 100 years makes some people do some real stupid shit.] I would've been more pissed if you got yourself killed, but broken bones can be healed.

Just, I'm a text away, y'know. Shit goes down, I've got your back. Don't forget it.

[It's nice to hear, though. Really nice. Kyna bites her lip, staring at Lup's robe as she thinks.]

Sorry I didn't tell you. I just know you two are friends and...

[She trails off awkwardly.]

Like that changes anything. I'm still gonna kick his ass.

[With her words because he's fucked up too, but still.]

Need anything or does whatshisface got ya covered? [she literally said his name like two seconds ago, but look at her play dumb anyway]

Hey, come on, Lup. Don't be a jerk.

[Kyna says it surprisingly gently, though.]

I'm okay. Ephemera apologized. It was weird.

[Lup tilts her head to the side and would absolutely pout if she could.] Kinda the ol' Lup brand, hun. But fine, Wash.

[She releases Kyna and turns her gaze on him, finally acknowledging his presence.] You got this covered or what?

[ Her gaze is incredibly unnerving, but Wash holds steady beneath it. Nods once. ]

I've got her. Anything she needs.

[ He was more or less waiting on her before they got her healed up, but he means more than that. ]

[Kyna is getting a little squirmy now. She's reaching her upper limit of accepting open concern and affection, and she's not sure how to respond, so she defaults to a dumb joke.]

He's even been feeding me.

[And then, a little quieter:]

Thanks, guys.

[Lup gives the man a nod, before looking back down at Kyna. Her hand brushes the girl's shoulder before she pulls away.]

Bee-tee-dubs, Taako and I are chefs, so like, if you really want to get your grub on, hit us up. We'll whip ya up something fancy. [Supplies are limited, but Lup's willing to use some of their hidden stash they've been hoarding on Kyna.]

Alright. Ephemera's got a date with the devil, so I better not keep him waiting. Lemme know if shit comes up. I'll check in on you in a few days.

Okay.

[Kyna's instinct is to reach for Lup, because physical contact is so much easier for her than words will ever be, but her fingers just slip right through Lup's hand. She wonders if the message gets across anyway.]

You let me know you're alright, too. You're on that stupid list. Text me or something.

[It's impossible to see any definition beneath Lup's dark hood, but Kyna might be able to feel the elf's curling grin shot her way. Message received.]

You know it, sis.

[She waves her fingers, takes one last look in Wash's direction, before she's floating through the wall again, disappearing.]

[Well, that was less terrible than Kyna was expecting. In fact, she's smiling as Lup leaves, and as she turns to Wash.]

See? She's cool.

[ Even in full armor, Kyna can tell that Wash's tension eases once Lup is gone. He did not like being in her presence, not one bit. ]

To you, apparently.

[Kyna's starting to get the hang of reading him while he's in the armor, at least a little bit, but those signals are pretty obvious.]

Yeah, well... I guess she's pretty intense.

[She moves closer to Wash, glancing down at his gun and then back up to his visor.]

Hey, lose the helmet for a sec.

And I've got no defense against her.

[ Or offense, for that matter. He's got nothing and that's terrifying.

He hesitates when Kyna tells him to take off his helmet, because he can't think of a reason why... but he does it anyway, lifting both hands to his head and pulling it off smoothly. ]

[Neither does Kyna, really. Lup is a powerful wizard to begin with, and liches are terrifying. But...]

We can practice. I can show you some tips to use against magic or something.

[Later. Right now, Kyna is focused on standing on her tiptoes and reaching up to cup his face with her hands, tugging him down to kiss him. It's just a thank you, and it doesn't mean anything else, like that time he kissed her in the kitchen. No big deal, obviously, right?]

[ In most cases, Wash's strategy would be to dodge and then physically kick the shit out of the magic user, but Lup is incorporeal so he doesn't see what on earth he could do to her. He frowns a little and draws a breath to say that, when Kyna leans in and touches his face.

Okay. He leans down a little and sets an armored hand on the small of her back to steady her, kissing. ]

What was that for..?

[She wasn't expecting the question. Actually, she was kind of hoping she could just kiss him and that would be that, but of course he wants to know. She bites her lip.]

Um... It was a thank you.

[And also, she just wanted to kiss him.]

[ Wash's mouth quirks a bit. ]

All I did was stand there not pissing myself. Very impressive, I know.
