Poor Kyna. So naive. He did warn her that it'd be when she least suspected.
He finishes off the plate of food and gently dislodges Lando so he can get up and go wash it before they turn in. It only takes a minute, then he's drying his hands and turning back to her. ]

[So, despite feeling somewhat guilty about his lack of being useful, Lance is not interested in getting involved with... Whatever is going on right now, so soon after the altercation with the Visitor. But he is stalking all of it, including Kyna's conversation with Nick after his announcement, and her tone seems a little off; he's not sure if he's imagining it or not, still a bit off himself from the ordeal during the event, but he'd rather be safe than sorry.]
Hey, are you doing okay with everything going on?

It sounds like you know a lot about demons, if that's what Caedra is.
Normally I'd say it's not honorable to have multiple people against one foe but she needs to be stopped.

[The message takes effort to send, because Lance has to not only override the paranoia of the event but type with shaking, bloody fingers. So the typos are uncharacteristic for him, but he's not about to try to correct them.]
Kyna I'm sory to ask thisnof you but its am em,ergency and I need help.
[The text is sent with the set of GPS coordinates, and another followup message.]
Be careful, the monster Michael summonsa may be around, but I thinkits gone.
[He really, really hopes it's gone.]

[He'd known, when he laid down to get some sleep after the whole incident with the Visitor, that waking up was going to suck. That's how it always is, after an injury, let alone several of them.
But this sucks, and it takes a few minutes for Lance to convince himself to get out of bed and go get a drink and figure out what time it is. But eventually he drags himself out of his room, wandering carefully toward the kitchen and wondering if Kyna is still around and, if she is, if she's asleep; if so, he doesn't want to wake her, especially since she's already been doing so much for him. He's totally going to have to make muffins or something.
But for now, water and then coffee, and maybe some food.]

[ Okay, Kyna, time to come home already. Drake didn't want to alarm her with a message but obviously they keep missing each other and he doesn't want to bring this up to Lup first, who is his dear friend but also the queen of overreaction. So after yet another fruitless knocking session at her door he pulls out his phone and shoots off a frustrated text instead. ]
Hey Kyna I need some advice.
Next time you're in the building come over?

[ Now that Wash is actually standing in front of Kyna's door with a bouquet of painstakingly folded and painted paper flowers, this seems like a stupid idea. A gesture that yes, he spent a fair bit of time on, but is ultimately meaningless. It's not like real gifts are easy to come by in Hadriel, but still. He could have done better. She deserves something better, for putting up with his bullshit especially the past few weeks. This is actually kind of embarrassing... and yet he hadn't thrown them away. Maybe because he did spend so much time on them, endured his team's teasing as he crumpled his way through a ream of paper and went out of his way to borrow Ephemera's paints.
Whatever. Kyna can decide if she likes them or not. He hides them behind his back with one hand and knocks with the other, effectively placing judgment with her. If this was a waste it's on her to call it that now. For someone who technically comes bearing a gift, he looks pretty uncomfortable when she opens the door. ]

Hey.
[ Hi, Lando. Wash steps in and kneels to greet the dog, indulging in a brief moment of stress relief before jumping into this. ]
I don't really know where to start.

Hey uh, this is really really stupid.
And you're probably still understandably mad at me.
But I can't stop thinking about it?
I think the gods are doing something again but whatever it's just easier to get it over with.
So here goes.
My middle name is actually Oriel.
I feel bad for making you guess and then not telling you.
I told you it was stupid. I hate this.

Hey, are you doing okay, with the event going on?
[He wants to check in on her, just in case; the event isn't affecting him too badly, but it's obvious it's hitting some people harder than others.]

[ sometime this week, when kyna is out and about, a small bird with long skinny legs flaps hurriedly down nearby. once it has their attention, its long skinny beak opens and words come pouring out! real actual words which don't sound bird voicey at all. in fact, it sounds like a familiar weird redhead they might know: ]
"Hi Kyna! So I'm throwing a brunch in the orchard this Friday morning around elevenish and I'd love you to come! Please bring anything you--"
[ whoops, maybe there was more to the message? either way, the bird takes off again to fly out toward the horizon and back to its home island in the distance. feel free to interpret that unfinished request however you might, brunch buddy! ]

[ It's been about a month since Wash's epic fuck-up, and things still are not quite back to how they were before. To his credit (or maybe he's just maintaining the awkwardness by doing so) he has been trying extremely hard ever since Kyna decided to take mercy on him. He's not letting his guard down again, not trusting himself to do anything like he was beginning to before because of just how badly he'd misstepped. So every night they do spend together he puts some thought into.
At this point he's scrambling for ideas of how to make just hanging out at her apartment special, but he did think of something at the last second. When he was sick with that terrible fever, she'd told him about her trips out of the city when she was younger, how much she loved the constellations.
When Wash knocks on her door, he's got a bottle of wine and a blanket in one arm, a large-ish scroll of paper in the other, and a hesitant smile on his face. ]

[It hadn't been easy, losing everyone. Tucker wondered if it ever would be after the desert, after Church, after Church again, after Wash, after Church again (was there a pattern here? Maybe). But he wasn't the only one left behind and while misery loved company, he wasn't sure that this was what it meant. Or maybe it was what it meant, and holy shit, that statement was selfish as fuck.
Fuck. He felt bad for Kyna, because he knew how it was. He was living it right now.
Where was Epsilon? Dead? Was...was he back to being dead? Was this because they admitted how they finally felt about each other? Because if so, then...then he wished they hadn't and could have just kept things the same. A forever friendship. It had to be better than death.
He knocked on her door because he wasn't that much of an asshole; he just needed to know that she was still there, that he wasn't alone after all. Don't mind this, Kyna; this was going to be a pretty frequent occurrence from here on out.]

Hey, you in?
Kyna? I know this likely isn't the best time, but if you have some time to spare your expertise would be appreciated. Our resident demon caused a friend a bit of trouble yesterday, I may need help talking him out of doing something foolish.
hey uh.
im txting u abt something besides this. ill get to that in a min.
but i was gonna group txt to get jt in on this too.
hes not in my phone.
have u talked to him today?

[It is taking all of Nate's very limited self-control to not reply to the local banter, so he does what Lance would probably suggest and chooses a more direct approach.]
okay so i don't know you very well, but i'm glad i'm not the only one interested in the inexplicable retrograde amnesia that seems to be hitting the people who cut down all the trees

[ Wash has been out for awhile, scavenging and gathering water... he's starting to wonder if the city supplies are depleted enough to turn to their MRE stash, and how he could handle dispersing that throughout the population, making sure they're used properly and not hogged. It'll take a post, probably, and he's not the most personable figure but then who is around here, really? Either way he's done hauling things for now, and heads back up to his and Kyna's room.
He comes in the door and nudges it closed again behind him, starting to tug off his jacket before he realizes the scene before him. Kyna and Lando are home, but neither are approaching him. No, the giant dog is curled up at Kyna's feet as she... oh no. Why is she crying? Wash freezes with one arm still in a sleeve, rather comically, like a deer in headlights. What does he do? Wait, no, did he do something?
When he speaks he sounds a strange mix of wary and concerned, and he hasn't moved. Meaning he's still standing there with his jacket half-on as he addresses this instead. ]
Kyna...? What's wrong?

[ Wash is having a lazy morning for once. He's exhausted from the shitty vision-full sleep, and from everyone trying to comfort him. He's been hiding out with Maine during the day but right now is still curled up with Kyna -- until his phone chimes. He rolls over to see who wants what, and... ]
...Kyna? Kyna, look at this.
I have to tell Harlan.

[Professionalism is not his strong suit, but Nate does his damnedest to scribe a boiler plate write-up that reads like something he might have issued from his office at the marine salvage company, as opposed to his usual informality.]
I'm heading up an expedition to the foothills of the mountain range in the next few days and looking for people with experience in excavation, long-term exploration, combat, and magic. I'm reaching out to you because I know you're proficient in at least one of these things, if not more, and I'm going to need all the help I can get.
It's a week out to the mountain range, maybe longer, and when we get there the intent is to locate and gain access to a bunker. With any luck we can learn something about this world we didn’t know before, and use it to our advantage.
This trip will be at least two weeks long. The weather is turning, snow is getting thick, and the temperatures will consistently be somewhere around freezing. Parts of this will suck. If you're interested, I need to know what you specifically can bring to the table in terms of survival and resources. Everyone's going to have to pitch in for shelter, food, and keeping watch, because we don't know what's out there.
Let me know as soon as you can. We leave at the first of the month.
